Population--What’s the population of the country?  Compare this to the population of the US.  (The US population is 307,006,550.)  Where do the people live in this country?  Rural areas?  Urban areas?  What are some of the major cities and their populations?

According to the world Facebook, the population of Iran was 79,853,900 back in July 2013. Compared to the United States they have around 26% of the population. 69% of the population live in urban environments.  Tehran, the capital of Iran, houses most of the population which is around 7.19 million. 

Agriculture-- What types of agriculture do they have and what type of diet do they have?

According to a comprehensive study done by the Atieh Bahar consulting in 2008, agriculture makes up 13% of their GDP. Iran produces wheat, rice, sugar, and other fruits. Due to the low rainfall, they mostly grow and eat wheat.

Industry and Tourism-- Are industry and tourism related to geography and climate?

According to the Washington Post, Iran received 3 million foreign tourists. Despite international efforts to isolate the country for its uranium enrichment program, tourism goes up 1-3 percent a year. However, most people come for religious purposes because of its location in the Middle East.  Industry is mostly oil production which has declined in the past 10 years. Iran is in a prime spot for oil production.

Cultural Activities-- Are their cultural activities related to geography and climate?  Are there any notable historical events that add to the climate/culture story?

There are a lot of cultural activities going on in Iran, particularly in Tehran. They have a theater halls, music festivals, Persian calligraphy, and Persian miniature. Tehran has theater productions every evening from September till June of the following year. Musical activity reaches a peak every year during their Ten Days of Dawn cerimonies. Traditional calligraphy has always had an impact on Iranian culture. It own a high significance they attach to Islamic texts. Finally, it is claimed that since the 11th century, Iran has been the undisputed champions of Persian miniature. Historically, this concept was inspired by the Chinese motifs following the Mongol invasion.
