Climate

Climate Types--What climate types exist in your country?  (Rainforest?  Desert?  Mediterranean climate? There's a gazillion climate descriptors out there, find some! The cia link above might even have some information for you.)  How uniform is the climate across the country?  You might want to find a map online to show this and stick it in your post.

  • The climate is mostly arid or semiarid, and is subtropical along the Caspian coast. -CIA.gov
  • The Coasts are a lot more humid and get more rain than cities inland.

Seasonality-- What is the annual range of temperature and precipitation for two cities in your country?  An annual range is taking the hottest month minus the coldest month.  How does the annual temperature and precipitation for a city in your country compare to Denver?  Do these cities in your country experience large or small seasonality?  Seasonality refers to how extreme the seasons are.  Denver has more seasonality than Miami where it's just warm all year.

  • Tehran annual temperature is 26 degrees
  • Annual precipitation is 42mm
  • Tabriz annual temperature is 28 degrees
  • Annual precipitation is 56mm
  • These graphs show it is a lot hotter and dryer during the summer months and colder and wetter during the winter months in Iran
  • Rain seasonality is a lot greater in the winter months and gets high precipitation from January to April and falls to almost nothing from June through September

  1. This is very interesting that Iran gets more precipitation between the months of February and April; but drops off and becomes really dry in the summer months. This is almost completely opposite of what we get here in Denver.
